Cookies and tracking technologies used by the website

English version - v1.0 | Updated 24 August 2026

This Cookie Policy supplements the Privacy Policy and explains how the Illustar website uses cookies and similar technologies. The technologies used may vary according to the Shopify features enabled on the store.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small files stored on a user's device. The website may also use local storage, pixels, tags and similar identifiers for functionality, security, preferences, measurement and, where enabled, marketing.

2. Categories

Necessary cookies

These enable navigation, the shopping cart, checkout, authentication, localisation, security, fraud prevention, consent management and delivery of requested services. Where they are essential to provide the service, they cannot be disabled through the website's cookie controls.

Preference cookies

These remember language, country, currency, settings and other choices. Some may be necessary to provide a function requested by the user; others are used only in accordance with the applicable consent settings.

Analytics cookies

These help Illustar understand how the website is used and improve its performance and content. Illustar uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Where prior consent is required, GA4 is treated as non-essential and activated only after consent. Shopify's own analytics technologies operate according to the platform's Customer Privacy settings and applicable consent requirements.

Marketing cookies

These may be used to measure campaigns or personalise advertising. Google Ads, Meta Pixel, Pinterest and TikTok are not planned for launch. If any such service is activated later, this Policy and the cookie banner will be updated before it is used.

3. Shopify cookies

Shopify may place cookies on the storefront such as those listed below. Their actual presence and duration depend on the enabled features and may be updated by Shopify. The latest platform information is available at https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies.

Examples Purpose Indicative duration
_shopify_essential Essential functions, session, checkout and security Up to 1 year
_shopify_test Checks browser cookie support Approx. 1 minute

discount_code Stores a discount code Session

_landing_page / _orig_referrer Referral source and landing page Up to 2 weeks
_shopify_marketing Marketing measurement, where active Up to 1 year

4. Google Analytics 4

Illustar uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure website usage and improve performance and content. GA4 may process pseudonymous identifiers, page and interaction data, device and browser information, referral source and approximate location. Google states that GA4 does not log or store IP addresses. GA4 normally uses the first-party cookies _ga and _ga_<container-id>, with a default expiry of up to two years; the actual duration may be shortened by browser limits or configuration. In regions where consent is required, GA4 is activated only after consent through Shopify Customer Privacy. Consent may be withdrawn at any time through the Cookie preferences link. Further information is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/11397207.

5. Consent management

In regions where consent is required, non-essential cookies are activated only after the user has made a choice. Refusing non-essential cookies must be as straightforward as accepting them. Users may change or withdraw their preferences at any time through the Cookie preferences link in the footer or the equivalent settings panel.

Illustar uses Shopify Customer Privacy to display and manage the cookie banner and consent preferences. In regions where prior consent is required, the store uses the choices recorded by this tool to control non-essential technologies, including GA4.

6. Browser settings

Users can delete or block cookies through their browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent the shopping cart, sign-in, checkout and other essential functions from working correctly.

7. Updates

This Policy will be updated when the platform, active services, cookies or processing purposes change. The published version will state the date of its latest revision.
